Nuc/Bio/Chem

Although most of us are not doctors, we should still have some basic medical knowledge and supplies in case of an emergency. Included in this aspect of our preparations should be that which covers basic NBC scenarios.

The term NBC is often used by many agencies (including those in the medical field and military) for the three great medical terrors of warfare.

No. This doesn’t stand for a broadcast network. It instead stands for:
Nuclear
Biological
Chemical

Upon reading these three types of warfare, some will wrinkle their nose and raise their eyebrows as they question, “What? Why? Do I really need to prepare for such things?”

The answer is: Only if you want to protect yourself and your family.

The possibility of facing any one of these threats is a great today as it ever has been – of not better. With extremists roaming our societies, terrorist organizations plotting around the globe, governments becoming so unstable, and feelings of hate and contempt circulating in the air, the chances are higher all the time that something could happen. The availability of such weaponry to such individuals and groups is more probable – and therefore, so is there use.

Having a basic knowledge of each of these threats, as well as a plan on what you and your loved ones would do if and when the time came that we were to actually face one – or more – of them, would be prudent. Storing some basic supplies should also be considered, such as:
Iodine pills (to protect your liver against the effects of radiation)
PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) such as:
Rubber gloves
Goggles
Plastic sheeting and duct tape (for around windows and doors – as well as to create a quarantine room in your home)
Chemical and biological masks

Remember, procuring such info and supplies does not make you an extremist – including in the case of NBC preparations. It simply means that you are cautious, sensible, practical, and prepared – just in case. …Remember, it is better to be prepared for the worst and not need it, than to worst to happen and never have prepared for it.
